Presentation of the first report of the Task force rural Africa (TFRA)

On 7 March 2019, the Task force rural Africa, after consultations of its members, presented its first recommendations in the form of a report, submitted as part of the wider Joint Africa EU Strategy (JAES). These recommendations extend to mainly four strategic areas for action:

  • a territorial approach for income and job creation
  • sustainable land and natural resources management, and climate action
  • sustainable transformation of African agriculture
  • development of the African food industry and food markets

The Task force rural Africa (TFRA) was created in May 2018 to advise the European Commission on how best to contribute to sustainable development and job creation in Africa’s agri-food sector and rural economy.

The TRFA’s work will build on the political commitments already made between the EU and the African Union, notably at the AU-EU Summit of 29-30 November 2017.
