The strategy’s plan of action calls for the encouragement of research and training programmes to ensure the identification, development and diffusion of the best tailored practices for Africa. It also calls for contributions to the African approach (Outcome 5) and to stimulate awareness of GIs among all the stakeholders, including consumers (Outcome 6).

The present page seeks to contribute to this result by providing online training material and publications that are relevant to Africa. It also provides a one-stop shop where users can find information on the applicable legislation that protects GIs in African countries and further operational details thanks to our interactive maps.
